PENSKE RACING AND KURT BUSCH MUTUALLY AGREE TO SEPARATION
- /documents/Penske_press_release_KB.pdf
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (December 5, 2011) — Penske Racing announced today that it has reached a mutual agreement with driver Kurt Busch to end its driver/race team relationship, effective immediately.
The team will evaluate its options for the driver of the No. 22 Sprint Cup Series car in the future while Busch will seek new opportunities with another race team.
"I appreciate the victories that Kurt has brought Penske Racing and our sponsors over the past six years," said Roger Penske. "While I am disappointed that Kurt will not be racing for our team in the future, both Kurt and I felt that separating at this time was best for all parties, including our team and sponsors. I wish Kurt the best in his future racing endeavors."
“I am grateful to Penske Racing for six very productive years,” said Kurt Busch. “Together we won a lot of races -16 in all. Leaving a great organization and a lucrative contract is not easy, but it’s an important step for me and allows me to take a deep breath to work on things that can make me a better driver and a better person. I want to personally thank Roger Penske for the opportunity that he has given me.”

NASCAR’s Finest Burn Rubber in Fourth Annual Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge
NASCAR’S FINEST BURN RUBBER IN FOURTH ANNUAL PENNZOIL ULTRA VICTORY CHALLENGE
Seven of the Biggest Names in NASCAR Compete for their Favorite Charity on All-Star Weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway
MAY 17, 2011 — Concord, NC — Pennzoil announced today the lineup of drivers who will compete in this year’s Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge, set to take place at 6:00 p.m. (ET) on May 21 at Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race pre-event festivities.
The Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge is NASCAR’s version of a “slam dunk contest,” with the sport’s top talent showing off their post-win celebration abilities in classic NASCAR tire-smoking burnouts. In addition to being a fan favorite of the weekend’s activities, the Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge has become a star-studded event with celebrity judges and some of the biggest names in NASCAR competing for a $10,000 donation to their favorite charity. Seven drivers will take to the track in this year’s Victory Challenge, in identical stock cars prepared by the Richard Petty Driving Experience. A panel of judges will score the drivers’ creativity during a 30-second freestyle burnout in order to select the top three, who will then be judged by the fans watching from the stands and on SPEED to pick the winner.
Along with Shell-Pennzoil driver Kurt Busch, this year’s line-up will see 2010 Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge winner Joey Logano back to defend his title. Clint Bowyer, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne and 2011 Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne will also be competing for their respective charities.
“I am really excited to be competing in the Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge this year,” said Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Dodge. “There is no better feeling than a post-win burnout, and I am looking forward to doing some donuts before, and hopefully after, the NASCAR All-Star Race Saturday night. It is great to be associated with a sponsor like Pennzoil, and the icing on the cake for all of us involved is that the prize money goes to charity.”
“The entire Pennzoil team is very pleased to be able to continue the tradition of the Victory Challenge for another year and further our involvement with the sport,” said Rusty Barron, General Manager, Marketing, Shell Lubricants Americas. “Pennzoil is the most trusted motor oil brand in America , and that is due to our loyal consumers, which include many of today’s race fans.”
A new format this year allows for increased involvement from the fans in the stands and at home. A text-to-vote opportunity will begin after the judges have selected the top three burnouts. Fans at home watching on SPEED and in the stands can vote by texting in specific codes after seeing replays of the top three. Footage of the top three burnouts will be replayed on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s World’s Largest HD Video Board, along with their matching text number. The driver with the most votes at the end will be declared the winner, with $10,000 awarded to the driver’s charity of choice.
The Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge will be televised live on May 21 at 6:00 p.m. (ET) during SPEED’s pre-race coverage prior to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Showdown and NASCAR Sprint Cup All-Star Race.
Tickets start at only $39 for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on May 21 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and can be purchased by calling the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267) or online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com. An admission ticket to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race includes the Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge, Sprint Showdown and Dierks Bentley pre-race concert in the speedway infield.

Shell and Penske Racing Unveil NASCAR Sprint Series No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge.
- /documents/SHELL-AND-PENSKE-RACING-UNVEIL-NASCAR-SPRINT-CUP-SERIES.pdf
HOUSTON, Texas (Dec. 2, 2010) — Tonight Shell Oil Company (Shell) and Penske Corporation unveiled their 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and IZOD IndyCar Series car line-up along with important driver details for the 2011 season. Officials from both companies met with members of the media at the Penske-Wynn Ferrari dealership at the Wynn Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nev., to unveil both the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Dodge that Kurt Busch will pilot throughout the 2011 season and the No. 3 Shell V-Power®-Pennzoil Ultra™ Dallara/Honda that three-time Indianapolis 500® champion Helio Castroneves will pilot at the Indianapolis 500 in May 2011.
As announced in April, Shell and Penske Corporation announced a multi-year cross-business alliance to begin with the 2011 racing season. As leaders in fuel and lubricant technology, the alliance allows Shell and Pennzoil to expand their motorsports presence to include primary sponsorship of 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, Kurt Busch and the No. 22 Dodge, as well as associate sponsorships promoting Shell V-Power® and Pennzoil Ultra™ with IZOD IndyCar Series drivers Helio Castroneves, Will Power and Ryan Briscoe.
“I am honored to represent the Shell and Pennzoil brands in the NASCAR Cup Series starting in 2011,” said Busch. “I look forward to building on the success of our storied past at Penske Racing with our new sponsors at Shell and Pennzoil.”
Shell and Pennzoil also announced their return to the Indianapolis 500 this evening as they unveiled the No. 3 Shell V-Power®-Pennzoil Ultra™ Dallara/Honda that three-time Indy 500 champion Helio Castroneves will drive in the centennial celebration of the Memorial Day weekend classic.
“I am very excited to be working with Shell and Pennzoil this season and I’m proud to have the opportunity to drive the beautiful Shell V-Power®-Pennzoil Ultra™ car in the 2011 Indianapolis 500 representing the No. 1 premium gasoline and Pennzoil’s most advanced motor oil in the U.S.,” said Helio Castroneves, driver of the No. 3 Team Penske IndyCar. “Shell and Pennzoil have such a great history in IndyCar racing and they have certainly had some special moments with Penske Racing at the Indy 500. I hope we can create a little bit more history together this May at Indianapolis!”
“Shell has more than a half-century of motorsports expertise and alliances allowing our organization to bring quality fuels and lubricants technology from the track to the road,” said Lisa Davis, President, Shell Lubricants, Americas. “Strategic alliances are very important to our organization and the new relationship with a winning team like Penske provides us with additional opportunities to continue furthering our technological leadership and product development through the invaluable knowledge gained both on and off the track.”
Penske Corporation is one of the world’s most successful and recognized transportation-based business enterprises and provides unique activation opportunities. While Shell and Pennzoil will be the “Official Fuel and Motor Oil Supplier” to the Penske organization in the U.S., the relationship goes far beyond a typical sponsorship. Beginning in 2011, Penske will work with Shell and Pennzoil to embark on a technical alliance that will offer insights into motor oil and fuel technology.
The renewed alliance will provide Penske’s IndyCar and NASCAR teams with cutting edge Pennzoil Ultra racing oil technology for all their racecars. Additionally, this alliance will enable further product development for Shell and Pennzoil through the invaluable knowledge gained surrounding fuels, lubricants and engine technologies. Like Shell and Pennzoil, Penske Corporation has a close relationship with Chrysler and Ferrari, both part of the Fiat Group.
“Shell and Pennzoil are two established and winning brands and they will be strategic business providers for our Penske Automotive Group and Penske Truck Leasing businesses,” said Roger Penske. “This is a very important global relationship for our organization and we look forward to producing many victories for Shell and Pennzoil in NASCAR, in the IZOD IndyCar Series and across our businesses.”
Winning is a tradition for Penske Racing. Competing in a variety of disciplines, cars owned and prepared by Penske Racing have produced 332 major race wins, 396 pole positions and 23 National Championships. The team has also earned 15 Indianapolis 500 victories and won the 2008 Daytona 500. For more information about Penske Racing, please visit www.penskeracing.com.
Pennzoil and Penske Racing already have a dynamic history at the Indianapolis 500 as two Penske Racing entries have raced to victory lane decorated with the traditional black and yellow colors. The new alliance will try and add another trophy to their collection as Helio Castroneves races for his record-tying fourth Indianapolis 500 title in the No. 3 Shell V-Power®-Pennzoil Ultra™ Dallara/Honda in May 2011.
Shell is the no. 1 lubricants supplier in the U.S. and the nation’s best-selling gasoline brand with more than 14,000 branded stations. Shell has a strong motorsports history aligning with race teams since the 1920’s. In addition to the alliance with Penske Racing, Shell affiliates currently have several motorsport technical co-operation programs in place, including Ferrari in Formula 1, Ducati in MotoGP, and with Hendrick Motorsports in NASCAR. Shell uses the knowledge gained from the extreme conditions on the track in the development of fuels and lubricants. These learnings transfer directly to the products available to customers, such as Shell V-Power® premium gasoline and the ultra-class synthetic motor oil, Pennzoil Ultra™. Shell V-Power® was developed to meet the needs of customers who want to help maintain optimum performance achieved through the benefits of a clean, gunk-free engine. Similarly, the advanced proprietary synthetic formula of Pennzoil Ultra™ far exceeds the most stringent car manufacturer’s engine cleanliness standards1.

The Ferrari President’s Prize is one of just four accolades presented by Ferrari within the Podio event. The winners are selected from over 250 partners and suppliers. Selection of the winners involves an exhaustive process in which all Ferrari departments are consulted.
John Bullock, Executive Vice President Retail, attended a special Ferrari event and spoke about the prize on behalf of Shell:
“Receiving the President’s Prize is a confirmation of the on-going success of our technical collaboration, spanning over sixty years. Shell is continuously dedicated to innovation, with the sole purpose of developing technology that we can then transfer to our road products, like Shell V-Power® fuel and Pennzoil Ultra™ motor oil.”
Shell first began working with Enzo Ferrari in the 1930s and powered Ferrari to its first ever Formula One win at Silverstone in 1951. Today, over 50 Shell engineers contribute to the Shell Formula One research and development program with Scuderia Ferrari, working together to maximize performance and consumer benefits. The Shell trackside laboratory can be found at every Formula One race and analyses approximately 40 samples of Shell lubricant and fuel, reporting the engine conditions to Ferrari. While working with Shell, Ferrari has won ten Formula One Constructors’ Championships and 12 Drivers’ titles.

Harvick Claims Second Victory Of The Season Taking The Checkered Flag At Daytona
- /documents/HARVICK_CLAIMS_SECOND_VICTORY_OF_THE_SEASON_TAKING_THE_CHECKERED_FLAG_AT_DAYTONA_0.pdf
Shell-Pennzoil Driver Scored Second Points Win Of Season
HOUSTON, TX (July, 7 2010) — Kevin Harvick and the Shell-Pennzoil team visited victory lane for the second time this season in a points-series race, following up the dramatic finish at the Talladega 500 in April with yet another restrictor plate win at this weekend’s Daytona Coke Zero 400. The Shell-Pennzoil team devised the perfect plan and had a little luck on their side for Saturday night’s race under the lights at Daytona, where Harvick raced three wide on the final lap to take the lead for the last time.
After qualifying was rained out at Daytona International Speedway on Friday afternoon, Harvick led the field to the green flag as the championship point leader. More rain moved into the Daytona Beach, Florida area just hours before the race was scheduled to begin and resulted in a two-hour rain delay. The change meant that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competitors would be racing strictly during the night instead of through the transition hours of the early evening, and the team had to trust their setups and equipment to carry Harvick to the checkered flag.
As a primary sponsor with Shell Oil Company of the No. 29 Chevrolet driven by Kevin Harvick, Pennzoil is a key supplier and provides an important technical support program for RCR. Throughout the season Pennzoil scientists work directly with the race team to engineer its most technologically advanced racing oil for moments exactly like those on Saturday.
Building new engines and keeping them clean and protected week-in and week-out is essential for race teams. Pennzoil and RCR work together throughout each race season to test motor oils in the harshest racing environments to gain insight and develop technology that can be used both on-track and in consumers’ vehicles. The payoff of that relationship is evident in the ultra-class synthetic motor oil Pennzoil Ultra™, which is an advanced proprietary synthetic formula that far exceeds the most stringent car manufacturer standards and already exceeds the 2010 GF-5 specification’s requirements for cleanliness and protection.
“Our engines are built to be extremely efficient. With engine heat rising up in some cases to over 280 degrees Fahrenheit in tolerances that we measure to a thousandth of an inch, it is essential that our engines are maintained in clean, pristine condition. We look to our team at Pennzoil to provide that,” said Danny Lawrence, Engine Builder and Trackside Manager for Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines, the high performance engine production and research and development company established in 2007. “In racing, even the smallest deposits can rob performance and lead to catastrophic engine failure, and Pennzoil Ultra™ technology helps provide exactly what we need to keep our engines running clean.”
With the victory at Daytona, Harvick extended his lead in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings to 212 points over Jeff Gordon. Additionally, Harvick is 553 markers forward of the 13th-place driver, with just eight races remaining until the Chase to Sprint Cup field gets set. The Daytona race marks the third time in 2010 the Shell-Pennzoil No. 29 car entered victory circle with Pennzoil Ultra™ technology running in the engine.
Utilizing the same Hyper Cleansing Technology™ as the race oils used in the No. 29 car, Pennzoil Ultra™ is an ultra-class synthetic motor oil that is the output of a global team of scientists pursuing the goal of maintaining an engine in factory-clean condition. Pennzoil’s technical support program with RCR provides the race team with its most advanced motor oil technology, along with the support of a team of industry-leading scientists. Through excellent collaboration, Pennzoil’s team of scientists engineer motor oils that resist heat, shear and wear, while keeping the engine clean even during the most demanding race conditions.
“At Pennzoil, we leverage our global technology to develop technologically advanced motor oils,” said James Stone, general manager, North American marketing, for Pennzoil. “We are very proud that so much of our hard work through research and development can potentially play a role in the success of Richard Childress Racing on the track. We are extremely excited that Harvick is in the position he is and want to congratulate the entire No. 29 team for their hard work this weekend and the tremendous win that resulted from it.”
Richard Childress Racing uses and recommends Pennzoil Ultra™ technology exclusively as the formulations provide cleansing and protection even in the most rigorous racing conditions. New Pennzoil Ultra™ 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30 viscosities can be found in major automotive retailers nationwide. Pennzoil Ultra™ 5W-40 and 10W-60 viscosities can be found at retailers and installers servicing mostly European cars. For additional information, please visit www.pennzoil.com.

Pennzoil Engineers Products To Provide Its Best Cleansing Motor Oils Ever
- /documents/Pennzoil_Engineers_Products_To_Provide_Its_Best_Cleansing_Motor_Oils_Ever.pdf
Next Generation Pennzoil® Portfolio Turns Consumers’ Engines into Self-Cleaning Engines
HOUSTON — The current generation of Pennzoil®, has been engineered to provide consumers with the best cleansing Pennzoil® oils ever. The portfolio of products, which includes five Pennzoil® motor oils, elevates cleansing and engine protection beyond industry requirements. Each Pennzoil® motor oil is formulated with special Active Cleansing Agents™ that not only help prevent sludge beyond industry requirements, but also clean out existing sludge, a technology and capability that Pennzoil invented.
“The Pennzoil family of oils offers consumers the benefit of turning their engines into self-cleaning engines,” said Pennzoil Global Brand Manager Debbie Van Schalkwyk. “For each category of motor oil, no leading competitor brand beats our Pennzoil motor oils in engine cleansing and protection.”1
All Pennzoil® motor oils formulated with synthetic base oils are specially engineered to help keep more difficult parts of the engine, the pistons, cleaner than even the toughest industry standards.2
As conventional oils are more prone to sludge build-up than synthetic oils, all Pennzoil® conventional motor oils are engineered to clean out up to 40% of engine sludge in the first oil change and continue to clean in the next oil change.
The tiered portfolio includes the ultra-class synthetic Pennzoil Ultra™, Pennzoil Platinum® full synthetic, Pennzoil Gold™ synthetic blend, Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® and Pennzoil® conventional motor oils.3
Pennzoil Ultra™
The ultra-class synthetic is the Pennzoil® brand’s top-tier oil and is formulated with Hyper Cleansing Technology™. Nothing keeps your engine closer to factory clean than Pennzoil Ultra™4. Pennzoil Ultra™ also cleans out existing engine sludge better than the brand’s conventional and synthetic blend oils5. In addition to its cleansing capabilities, no leading synthetic oil provides better wear protection6, and Pennzoil Ultra™ is the only motor oil recommended by Ferrari North America.
Pennzoil Ultra™ SAE 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30 viscosities can be found in major automotive retailers nationwide. Pennzoil Ultra SAE 5W-40 and 10W-60 viscosities can be found at retailers and installers servicing mostly European cars, or through Ferrari dealerships.

Pennzoil Platinum® SAE 5W-50 viscosity can be found at retailers and installers servicing mostly European cars.
Pennzoil Gold™
Pennzoil Gold™ is a synthetic-blend motor oil that is suitable for SUVs, trucks, minivans and cars. Pennzoil Gold™ keeps pistons up to 10% cleaner than the toughest industry standard.8 The synthetic blend oil cleans out up to 40% of engine sludge in the first oil change and continues to clean in the next oil change.2 No leading conventional or synthetic blend helps keep engines cleaner, and no leading conventional or synthetic blend provides better wear protection.1,6 Pennzoil Gold™ motor oil is available in SAE 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30 viscosities.
Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle®
Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® motor oil is formulated for vehicles with engines that have been driven more than 75,000 miles. The oil helps reduce leaks and oil burn-off in worn and high-mileage engines. Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® motor oil cleans out up to 40% engine sludge in the first oil change and continues to clean in the next oil change. The oil already exceeds ILSAC GF-5 engine cleanliness and protection requirements. Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® motor oil is available in SAE 5W-30, 10W-30, and 10W-40 viscosities.
Pennzoil®
No leading conventional oil keeps engines cleaner and no leading conventional oil provides better wear protection.10 Pennzoil® conventional motor oil also cleans out up to 40% engine sludge in the first oil change and continues to clean in the next oil change. In Celebration of the Launch of the Next Generation of Products, the Makers of Pennzoil Motor Oil Announce Consumer “Get Your Key To Clean” Promotion
HOUSTON, TX (May 23, 2010) — Today, Pennzoil announced the start of the "Get Your Key to Clean” promotion to celebrate the launch of Pennzoil’s best cleansing portfolio of products ever. The promotional sweepstakes provides consumers the opportunity to win a VIP weekend at the Bank of America 500 in October, as well as a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS2, a piece of automotive history, the first vehicle produced by the newly formed RCR Street Performance Group.
The special edition 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS2 is the first of its kind and has been up-fitted and enhanced with numerous performance upgrades that are befitting one of the most successful NASCAR teams, Richard Childress Racing, and the maker of some of the most technologically advanced motor oils available, Pennzoil®. Additions to the vehicle include a carbon fiber body kit to increase downforce and performance, a completely reupholstered interior using the iconic colors of Pennzoil® and RCR, and a completely revamped suspension and supercharged engine for NASCAR-inspired performance.
“The RCR Street Performance 2010 Camaro SS2 project is an opportunity that translates more than 40 years of RCR racing knowledge to the neighborhood garage. Only three of these high-performance street cars will ever be built, so the winner of the Pennzoil "Get Your Key to Clean" sweepstakes will end up owning a piece of history,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “Through the Pennzoil 'Get Your Key to Clean' promotion, the folks at Pennzoil have provided an exciting opportunity for one lucky race fan to win a very special street car.”
The RCR Street Performance Group was created for people with a unique appreciation for the finer — and faster — things in life. From the design and production of high-performance engines, to the precision fabrication of chassis and bodywork, to the custom design and manufacture of parts for both engines and chassis, the RCR Street Performance Group is the culmination of more than 40 years of championship racing experience at Richard Childress Racing.
Just this year, the RCR Street Performance Group has taken the years of experience and knowledge gained on some of NASCAR’s toughest tracks and begun completing performance upgrades on various Chevrolet vehicles. The 2010 Camaro SS2 is the first of many models to be modified by the fabled race shop and made available to consumers. Allowing the Camaro SS2 to be the prize for one lucky consumer is a further testament to the technological relationship that RCR and Pennzoil share.
Since the start of the Shell-Pennzoil sponsorship of the No. 29 car in 2007, Pennzoil’s technical support program with RCR has provided the race team with its most advanced motor oil technology along with the support of a team of industry leading scientists. Through excellent collaboration, Pennzoil’s team of scientists engineer motor oils that resist heat, shear and wear, while keeping the engine clean even during the most demanding race conditions. The most recent example of this collaboration is the use of the Hyper Cleansing Technology™ found in Pennzoil Ultra™ motor oil in each of the engines on the track for RCR.
“Building on the success of Pennzoil Ultra™, today marks the beginning of the next generation of Pennzoil® as we have engineered our motor oils to provide consumers with the best cleansing Pennzoil® oils ever,” said Pennzoil Global Brand Manager Debbie Van Schalkwyk. “Our new portfolio of products includes five Pennzoil® motor oils that elevate cleansing and engine protection beyond industry requirements. We are happy that RCR has worked with us to celebrate this milestone by helping make ‘Get Your Key to Clean’ an exciting promotion for our consumers.”
The “Get Your Key to Clean” promotion, which runs June 1 through July 31, 2010, will treat five finalists and a guest to an RCR VIP Experience at the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway the weekend of October 16, 2010. A ceremony will be held before the start of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race where each of the five finalists will be presented with a key, one of which will start the engine of the RCR Street Performance Camaro SS2. The finalist with the key that starts the engine will win the car and be announced the Grand Prize Winner.

Harvick Breaks 115-Race Winless Streak To Take The Checkered Flag At Talladega
- /documents/HARVICK_BREAKS_115-RACE_WINLESS_STREAK_TO_TAKE_THE_0.pdf
Shell-Pennzoil Driver Scored First Points Win Since 2007 Daytona 500
TALLADEGA, AL (April 25, 2010) — Kevin Harvick and the Shell-Pennzoil team put the perfect plan into place to take the win in Sunday’s running of the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. Strategy was a major factor in the 188-lap race that went into three green-white-checker finishes before it was settled. Harvick’s win broke a 115-race winless streak as the team celebrated their first points win since the 2007 Daytona 500.
Starting from the fourth position, Harvick took the lead for the first time on lap five and led for one lap. After leading the race, the California native put the plan he and crew chief Gil Martin formed into play and dropped to the rear of the field.
The first caution of the day came out lap 20 for a scheduled competition yellow with Harvick posted in the 31st position. The two-time Nationwide Series champion brought the Shell-Pennzoil Chevy in for the first time for regular service. Martin called his driver back in for a second time to top off with fuel and make sure the grill was clear of any debris.
Harvick took the green flag for the restart but remained in the rear of the field. On lap 66, the 2010 Budweiser Shootout winner returned to pit road for a green-flag stop taking on tires and fuel before returning to the track.
By lap 71 Harvick worked his way into the top-25 and was running in the 24th position. The next dozen laps brought out a couple of cautions with the No. 29 team taking advantage of the cautions and giving their driver tires and fuel with each stop. Harvick returned to the pit lane on both stops for an extra splash of fuel remaining with a group of cars that he was running on track with.
Strategy continued to be a main factor as the laps began to click down. Harvick’s plan was to make a charge toward the front with 50 laps to go and that plan was put into play as a second round of green-flag pit stops began with 42 laps remaining in the race. After receiving service, the Shell-Pennzoil driver began his charge to the front and was back in the top-10 by lap 167.
A late race caution with only eight laps remaining in the event saw Harvick just outside the top-five running in the sixth position. The caution set up the first attempt at a green-white-checker finish as crew chief Gil Martin asked his driver to begin saving fuel.
The field took the green on lap 188 for the green-white-checker but a multi-car wreck slowed them down again before they could take the white flag. Harvick was now in the fifth spot for the second run to the checker but yet another on-track incident brought the field to the third and final try to finish the race.
Harvick used each of the caution laps wisely conserving as much fuel as possible to get to the finish. The final attempt at a green-white-checker saw Harvick riding in the third spot as the field took the final green flag.
Harvick and Jamie McMurray emerged from the pack to take the lead as the Shell-Pennzoil driver planted the nose of the No. 29 Chevy on the rear bumper of McMurray’s machine. The two broke away from the rest of the field making it a two-car race for the win. It was on the final white-flag lap coming into the tri-oval that the Shell-Pennzoil driver made his move pulling to the inside and edging McMurray at the start-finish line to take the win.
“We were really tight on gas there toward the end of the race and was able to save enough gas for all the green-white-checkereds and we wound up in a position exactly where we wanted to be, right up against the car in front of us coming to the trivial and he made the one move to the right and I went left and it just worked out really good,” Harvick commented after the win. "We knew we needed to be the second car pushing coming to the start-finish line because you can make that one swipe pass there coming to the finish line. It was just a matter of timing. Our day worked out really well for us. We planned on riding around in the back to miss the wrecks and racing with about 50 to go. All of that worked out and we were able to work our way there and have the move that we planned on trying to be in position to make at the end of the race.
"I think the package NASCAR brought here worked out great,” continued the race winner. “It is very forgiving. You can let out of the gas. You just don't want to be the very last car in the pack. While you are in the middle of the pack, you can do what you need to do and push and shove. It is more fun when they let us race the way we want to race."
Following Harvick to the checkered flag was Jamie McMurray and Juan Pablo Montoya. Denny Hamlin and Mark Martin rounded out the top-five. Harvick’s win also moved him up to the second spot in the championship point standings where he trails leader Jimmie Johnson by 26 markers.

- /documents/Pennzoil_Ultra_ Named_as_Official_Lubricant_of_ALMS_Risi_0.pdf
Shell Oil Company and Risi Competizione Racing Announce Sponsorship Agreement
HOUSTON (April 16, 2010) — In March of 2010, Ferrari named the new Pennzoil Ultra™ motor oil with Hyper Cleansing Technology™ as the only motor oil approved and recommended for use in all Ferrari engines in the United States. As a next step in their long-standing relationship with Ferrari, Shell Oil Company announced Pennzoil Ultra™ will be the brand sponsor for the Risi Competizione American Le Mans Series team for the 2010 season. Through the sponsorship agreement, Pennzoil Ultra™, Shell’s most advanced motor oil in North America, has been named the official lubricant of the team and Pennzoil Ultra™ 5W-40 will be the exclusive motor oil used in the team’s two Ferrari 430GT racecars.
“We are very proud to have Pennzoil come on-board as a sponsor of the Risi Competizione team as we continue our quest for our third ALMS championship and eighth major endurance race,” said Giuseppe Risi. “Shell and Ferrari have an iconic relationship, and we hope the advanced technology of Pennzoil Ultra™ will provide us the advantage to drive our cars to the winner’s circle.”
Pennzoil Ultra™ is a new full synthetic motor oil that is engineered to maintain an engine as close to factory clean as possible. Made from an advanced proprietary synthetic formulation that includes Hyper Cleansing Technology™, Pennzoil Ultra™ is designed to exceed the toughest standards for engine cleanliness. Nothing helps keep an engine closer to factory clean.
With engine tolerances and clearances measuring only thousandths of an inch and engines operating in high-temperature conditions, even a small build-up of deposits could diminish performance. Pennzoil Ultra™ motor oil can handle the challenge. This is why Ferrari recommends Pennzoil Ultra™ exclusively for Ferrari engines in the United States. Pennzoil Ultra™ SAE 5W-40 and 10W-60 have been tested and engineered to clean and protect Ferrari engines, even those used in ALMS.
Through Shell Oil Company’s technical partnership with Ferrari, Pennzoil Ultra™ has been tested and engineered to clean and protect all engines, meeting and exceeding Ferrari’s most stringent standards. “We at Pennzoil take great pride in the fact that Shell scientists work as a team with Ferrari in the Trackside Laboratory at each Formula One race, at the famous Ferrari factory in Italy and at Shell’s R&D facilities in the United Kingdom and Germany,” said Luis Guimaraes, VP, Shell Lubricants, Americas. “The technical partnership with Ferrari ultimately provides us with an environment for testing new lubricants in extreme conditions. This gives us a better understanding of what will deliver improved protection, performance and efficiency to help our motorsports technical partners excel and continue their winning ways.”
For more than 60 years, Ferrari has been synonymous with high-performance cars, on the race track and the road. The company’s confidence in Shell and its products dates back to the 1930s, when Shell began supporting Enzo Ferrari’s motor racing activities. When the very first Ferrari drove out of the factory gates in Maranello, Italy in 1947, it was powered and protected by Shell products.
Shell has a storied history of motorsports successes and is building on that legacy in 2010 with the announcement of Pennzoil Ultra™ as the brand sponsor of the Risi Competizione team. For additional information, please visit www.Pennzoil.com.

Premier Auto Manufacturer Ferrari Names The New Pennzoil Ultra™ Full Synthetic Motor Oil As Recommended Oil In The United States
- /documents/Premier_Auto_Manufacturer_Ferrari_Names_The_New_Pennzoil_Ultra_0.pdf
HOUSTON (March 1, 2010) — Ferrari has named the new Pennzoil Ultra™ with Hyper Cleansing Technology™ as the only motor oil approved and recommended for use in all Ferrari engines in the United States. Pennzoil Ultra™ SAE 5W-40 and 10W60 have been tested and engineered to clean and protect Ferrari engines.
Pennzoil Ultra™ is a new full synthetic motor oil that helps keep engines closer to factory clean. Pennzoil Ultra™ is made from an advanced proprietary synthetic formulation that includes Hyper Cleansing Technology™ designed to exceed the toughest standards for engine cleanliness, and is engineered to maintain an engine as close to factory clean as possible. Nothing helps keeps your engine closer to factory clean.
With engine tolerances and clearances measuring only thousandths of an inch and engines operating in high temperature conditions, even a small build-up of deposits could diminish performance. Pennzoil Ultra™ motor oil can handle the challenge. This is why Ferrari recommends Pennzoil Ultra™ exclusively for Ferrari engines in the United States.
“Ferrari engines are designed to provide extremely high power outputs and to rev to very high rpm. They are thus engineered and assembled to exceptionally tight tolerances to guarantee performance,” said Jean-Jacques His, Ferrari’s Head of Engine Development in the GT Department. “We understand every Ferrari owner wants to keep their engine in pristine condition. To ensure the engine works at optimum efficiency Pennzoil Ultra™ helps protect our engines and maintain performance throughout the vehicle’s life.”
“The technical partnership with Ferrari ultimately provides us with an environment to test new lubricants in extreme conditions. This gives us a better understanding of what will deliver improved protection, performance and efficiency in everyday engines, which is evident in the development of the new Pennzoil Ultra™.”
The Hyper Cleansing Technology™ built into Pennzoil Ultra™ plays a critical role in the engine. The oil lubricates moving engine parts to reduce friction and power loss, and helps keep the engine clean by seeking out and dissolving contaminants safely into the oil before they form deposits in the engine.
The new Pennzoil Ultra™ is available in SAE 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40, 10W-30 and 10W-60 viscosities. Pennzoil Ultra™ 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30 viscosities can be found in major automotive retailers nationwide. Pennzoil Ultra™ 5W-40 and 10W-60 viscosities can be found at retailers and installers servicing mostly European-manufactured cars or through Ferrari dealerships. Pennzoil Introduces Its Most Advanced Synthetic, Pennzoil Ultra™
- /documents/Pennzoil_Introduces_Its_Most_Advanced_Synthetic_Pennzoil_Ultra_1.pdf
New Hyper Cleansing Technology™ Keeps Engines Closer to Factory Clean to Help Consumers Protect their Vehicle Investment and Increase Engine Efficiency
HOUSTON (March 1, 2010) — Today, Pennzoil is ushering in the next generation of engine protection with the release of its most technologically advanced motor oil, Pennzoil Ultra. The new, ultra-class synthetic product is the output of a global team of scientists pursuing the goal of maintaining an engine in factory-clean condition.
The advanced proprietary synthetic formula of Pennzoil Ultra motor oil with Hyper Cleansing Technology™ is also designed and engineered to exceed the toughest industry standards. Nothing keeps an engine closer to factory clean . Pennzoil Ultra helps prevent sludge and other deposits, but also cleans up existing sludge. In fact, it cleans out over 35 percent more engine sludge than the brand’s next best oil, Pennzoil Platinum®. In addition, no leading synthetic motor oil provides better wear protection than Pennzoil Ultra.
Pennzoil Ultra became a reality through the incredibly high standard set by the Pennzoil brand and delivered by Shell Lubricants technology teams around the world. Years of collaboration resulted in a Pennzoil Ultra formulation that helps to keep engines as close to factory clean as possible, and also far exceeds the most stringent car manufacturer standards for cleanliness and protection — going beyond just lubricating and protecting an engine.
“At Pennzoil, we recognized that an engine is in its most perfect state the day it leaves the factory,” said Pennzoil Global Brand Manager Debbie Van Schalkwyk. “That’s why we developed new Pennzoil Ultra motor oil molecule by molecule to seek out and dissolve contaminants safely into the oil before they form deposits or corrode the engine. We are very proud to be able to state that ‘Nothing keeps an engine closer to factory clean than new Pennzoil Ultra.’”
Auto manufacturers develop and build engines in clean facilities to prevent dust, debris or moisture that could hinder performance or longevity from getting inside the engine. To continue to operate at its best, it is vital that the engine remains clean.
“Spending more than 30 years in engine and lubricant development for one of the largest car manufacturers in the world taught me the importance of maintaining a clean engine,” said Jim Linden, former ILSAC Chair. “A clean engine is not a want, but a need for today’s consumers to help maintain engine efficiency and performance.”
Today’s engines are much more complex and sophisticated than their counterparts of just a few years ago. They are smaller, yet they generate more power, often via turbocharging or supercharging, so they run hotter. They feature far tighter tolerances, and in many cases they boast alternative technologies, like hybrid, diesel or biofuel. And every engine today is expected to provide better performance and higher fuel economy while generating lower tailpipe emissions than did a comparable engine of just a few years ago. These changes put greater stress on the motor oil.
“As motor oil developers, we are seeing more and more engines with sludge and varnish, which can compromise performance and reduce efficiency,” said Dr. Robert Sutherland, Pennzoil Technology Manager. “If left unchecked, deposits on critical surfaces can restrict oil flow or act as insulators that can cause the temperature inside of an engine to rise to a point where damage may result. Maintaining engine cleanliness should be a priority for all vehicle owners to best protect the substantial investment they have in their vehicle.”
For every gallon of gasoline burned, an engine produces carbon, soot, unburned fuel, partly burned fuel, corrosive acids and water. These byproducts can contaminate the engine oil and lead to sludge, varnish and other engine deposits, which can reduce performance and damage the engine if allowed to build up. Engine and oil experts recognize that cleaner engines are better protected, more efficient and better performing.
In addition to exceeding the most stringent car manufacturer standards for cleanliness and protection , Pennzoil Ultra already exceeds the 2010 GF-5 specification’s requirements for cleanliness and protection. No leading synthetic outperforms Pennzoil Ultra in certain critical industry requirements covering American, Asian and European vehicles.
“Pennzoil is so proud of the performance of Pennzoil Ultra that we are backing it with a 500,000 mile, 15-year Lubrication Limited Warranty,” said Luis Guimaraes, Vice President, Shell Lubricants Marketing, Americas.
Shell has a longstanding technical partnership with Ferrari globally and is committed to providing Ferrari engines with the most advanced fuels and lubricants available. Pennzoil Ultra is the only motor oil recommended by Ferrari North America.
New Pennzoil Ultra 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30 viscosities can be found in major automotive retailers nationwide. Pennzoil Ultra 5W-40 and 10W-60 viscosities can be found at retailers and installers servicing mostly European cars, or through Ferrari dealerships. New Pennzoil Ultra™ Hyper Cleansing Technology™ Under the Hood of Richard Childress Racing Vehicles In 2010
- /documents/New_Pennzoil_Ultra_Under-The_Hood_Of_ RCR-In_2010_0.pdf
HOUSTON (March 1, 2010) — In 2010, Richard Childress Racing will run with Pennzoil’s cutting edge Hyper Cleansing Technology™. When Pennzoil and Shell Oil Company began a multi-year agreement in 2007 with Richard Childress Racing as the primary sponsor of the No. 29 Chevrolet driven by Kevin Harvick, an important technical support program between Pennzoil and RCR began as well. Pennzoil scientists worked directly with the race team to engineer their most technologically advanced motor oil available on the market, Pennzoil Ultra™.
Building new engines and keeping them clean and protected week in and week out is essential for race teams. Pennzoil and RCR work together throughout each race season to test motor oils in the harshest racing environments in an effort to gain insight and develop technology that can be used both on-track and in consumer vehicles on-the-road. The payoff of that relationship is evident in the new ultra-class synthetic motor oil, Pennzoil Ultra™, which is an advanced proprietary synthetic formula that far exceeds the most stringent car manufacturer standards and already exceeds the 2010 GF-5 specification’s requirements for cleanliness and protection. Nothing keeps an engine closer to factory clean.
“Our engines are built to be extremely efficient. With engine heat rising up in some cases to over 280 degrees Fahrenheit in tolerances that we measure to a thousandth of an inch, it is essential that our engines are maintained in clean, pristine condition and we look to our team at Pennzoil to provide that,”said Danny Lawrence, Engine Builder and Trackside Manager for Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines, the high performance engine production and research and development company established in 2007. “In racing, even the smallest deposits can rob performance and lead to catastrophic engine failure and Pennzoil technology helps provide exactly what we need to keep our engines running clean.”
On Saturday, February 6, in an invigorating start to the 2010 NASCAR season, Kevin Harvick became the fourth driver to win back-to-back Budweiser Shootout titles. The achievement marks the seventh win in the exhibition race for the RCR team, more than any other organization.
“We tested a few new things during the off season, and the Pennzoil racing motor oil with Hyper Cleansing Technology™ used during the Budweiser Shootout was one of them,” said Gil Martin, Crew Chief, Shell-Pennzoil No. 29 car. “Pennzoil always provides tremendous support on and off the track that allows for our cars to challenge for the head of the pack.”
The new Pennzoil Ultra™ ultra class synthetic motor oil is the output of a global team of scientists pursuing the goal of maintaining an engine in factory-clean condition. Pennzoil’s technical support program with RCR provides the race team with the most advanced motor oil technology along with the support of a team of industry leading scientists. Through excellent collaboration, Pennzoil’s team of scientists engineer motor oils that resist heat, shear and wear, while keeping the engine clean even during the most demanding race conditions.
While the level of performance in most street cars won’t match that of an ECR engine, the cleansing and protection of passenger car engines is still vital. Pennzoil Ultra™ offers Hyper Cleansing TechnologyTM that is designed to seek out and dissolve contaminants safely into the oil before harmful deposits form that can create sludge or corrode engine parts. In fact, nothing keeps your engine closer to factory clean than Pennzoil Ultra™. The oil not only prevents deposits, but it also gently lifts existing sludge deposits off engine surfaces and dissolves them safely into the oil. Pennzoil Ultra™ also cleans out more engine sludge than the brand’s next best oil, Pennzoil Platinum®.
“At Pennzoil, we leverage our global technology to develop technically advanced motor oils,” said Luis Guimaraes, general manager, North American marketing, for Pennzoil. “We are very proud of our newest addition to the Pennzoil family of motor oils. Pennzoil Ultra™ is an advanced synthetic motor oil that keeps engines close to factory clean, and no leading synthetic motor oil provides better wear protection than Pennzoil Ultra™. ”
Richard Childress Racing uses and recommends Pennzoil Ultra™ technology exclusively as the formulations provide cleansing and protection even in the most rigorous racing conditions

Kevin Harvick Takes Second Straight Budweiser Shootout

RCR and Pennzoil off to a great 2010 Sprint Cup Season
HOUSTON, TX — FEBRUARY 10, 2010 — On Saturday, February 6, in an invigorating start to the 2010 NASCAR season, Kevin Harvick became the fourth driver to win back-to-back Budweiser Shootout titles. The achievement marks the seventh win in the exhibition race for the Richard Childress Racing team, more than any other organization.
Harvick gained entry for the 32nd annual event as the defending Budweiser Shootout winner. The 24-car field competed in two segments, 25 and 50 laps, with a 10-minute pit stop between segments to allow teams to visit pit road to change tires, add fuel and make adjustments.
“It's a lot of fun to win,” said Harvick. “We led a bunch of laps; ran at the front all night. To go out and have that car start cold, to never have a lap on the racetrack, to have it run like it ran, says a lot for the preparation of the team. It's a lot about the details.”
“We’ve been testing a few new things during the off season, and this race motor oil being one of them. Everything came together, allowing Kevin to pull out another victory for the team,” said Gil Martin, Shell-Pennzoil No. 29 car crew chief. “It was a great effort by everyone. The entire 29 team worked seamlessly to ensure Kevin had all the tools he needed to win, and Pennzoil provided outstanding support, as well.”
When Pennzoil and Shell began a multi-year agreement in 2007 with Richard Childress Racing as the primary sponsor of the No. 29 Chevrolet driven by Kevin Harvick, an important technical support program between Pennzoil and RCR began as well.
“Pennzoil’s technical support program with RCR provides the race team with our most advanced motor oil technology, along with the support of a team of industry-leading scientists,” said Luis Guimaraes, general manager, Americas, Shell Lubricants. “Pennzoil engineers and key engine developers at RCR work closely to develop motor oil formulations that help maximize performance and engine reliability for the team.”
