Panther
Racing became a force
to reckon with in the
Indy Racing League when
it entered its first
race in 1998. Through
its five years of existence,
Panther Racing has boasted
some of the top names
in motorsports, including
Scott Goodyear, Billy
Boat and Sam Hornish
Jr. In 2000, Goodyear
won at Texas Motor Speedway
and went on to finish
second in the series’ point
standings. Panther Racing
earned back-to-back IRL
Championships in 2001
and 2002 with Hornish
Jr. In 2003, Hornish
Jr. drove the Panther
Racing No. 4 to three
wins, and with one race
to go remains a threat
to win his third consecutive
title. The team has earned
14 wins, all between
Goodyear and Hornish,
and six poles. |
