IRL Overall: In two seasons in the Indy Racing League Tomas has earned One Win, Five Pole positions, 7 Top Five finishes, 13 Top 10 finishes, 14 races led for a total of 934 leader laps. At Indy he has led 148 laps (of 400) in two races, nearly twice as many laps as the next leading driver. Has had the Fastest Lap of the race in eight separate races (2003: Japan and Richmond, 2002: Nazareth, Indy, Kansas, Nashville, Michigan and Kentucky.)

2003 Indy Racing League – 16 IndyCar starts. Two Pole Awards – Texas (June race) and Michigan. Top Five Qualifier at 8 races. Five Top Five finishes. Ten Top 10 finishes. Led 9 different races for a total of 491 laps, second only to 2003 IRL Champion Scott Dixon. Led 63 laps at Indianapolis. Completed 3041 laps of competition (4th highest completion rate.) Finished 7th in Indy Racing League points championship.

2002 Indy Racing League – 12 IndyCar starts. Scored his first IndyCar win at Michigan after starting on the Pole and leading 122 of 200 laps. Drove from 11th to first in the final 26 laps to claim the victory. Three Pole Awards – Texas (June race), Kansas, and Michigan. Top Five Qualifier at 8 races. Two Top Five finishes. Three Top 10 finishes. Led 5 different races for a total of 443 laps, third highest behind Sam Hornish Jr. and Gil de Ferran. Named Bank One Co-Rookie of the Year at Indy with Alex Barron. Finished second in IRL Bombardier Rookie of the Year behind Laurent Redon although only having 12 starts. Finished 14th in Indy Racing League points championship.

2001 – Runner-up in the Formula Nissan Championship with four victories and eight Poles. Served as test driver for the Jaguar Racing Formula One team from January through May.

2000 – Runner-up in the British Formula 3 championship with two victories and two Poles. Finished third in prestigious Marlboro Masters F3 race at Zandvoort. Competed in final four races of FIA Formula 3000 championship, with one runner-up finish.

1999 – Won Formula Opel Euroseries championship with a record eight victories and eight poles. Competed in the last two races of the Formula Nissan championship, winning one of them and winning the Pole at both events.

1998 – Finished Third in the British Formula Vauxhall Junior series with one victory and one Pole. Named series Rookie of the Year.

1997 – Scored two wins in the South African Formula Ford series.

1995 – Won the South African karting championship.
