This includes mostly older analog stuff that’s fun to punch above its weight. My garage is full of high-mileage, somewhat presentable cars like a Miata, a few 90s BMW 3 Series, a Kei van for errands, a Coyote-swapped 987 Cayman, a ‘69 Alfa Romeo GTV that’s my dream car project, and a handful of drift cars for the motorsports side of my life. My wife and I are big on having the right car for the journey or the purpose. We enjoy collecting cars, but more importantly, we enjoy using them to their potential and keeping them alive and well. I actually replace cars pretty often. My wife and I have a “one car in, one car out” policy that we loosely follow, so I’m always letting something go to a new home while bringing something new in. That said, I do love my Miata. It was my grandmother’s car. She owned it from new and enjoyed it for almost 20 years before giving it to me. It has become one of my higher-quality Grand Touring-type builds: 350 turbocharged horsepower, a six-speed, a perfectly balanced suspension, and an OEM+ feel. We drive it up to the mountains for vacation every year, and it’s a great date night car. I was sliding it around, ripping it through back roads, and just enjoying what this lightweight, low-power, goofy-looking little car had to offer. I didn’t know it at the time, but that car sparked a huge part of my racing career. It helped me focus on what really matters: maximizing every car from behind the wheel, not from a wallet or what others think. \u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cb\u003EWhat does “keeping a car for the long run” mean to you?\u003C/b\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFor me, keeping a car for the long run usually means doing the preventative maintenance and making the right upgrades to improve it or make it feel like mine.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EUsing the right oil, getting the right seat and steering wheel, dialing in the suspension, and tuning the car correctly are usually the first signs that I’m thinking, “Yeah, I plan on keeping this one.”\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EForever cars are pretty rare for me.
