From Streets to Dirt to Drift: Pennzoil Celebrates LA Car Culture
Pennzoil is redefining automotive storytelling with its Long May We Drive YouTube content series—which brings Pennzoil’s brand campaign to life by celebrating the cars and communities that inspire drivers of all kinds to pursue their next mile, with the motor oil that helps them get there. From the LA streets to rugged off-road terrain and the high- energy world of drifting, the series explores how passion and performance intersect behind the wheel.
The three-part series, featured on Pennzoil’s YouTube channel, was developed in collaboration with leading automotive filmmaker Ben Hartnett. Each episode spotlights a different corner of LA’s automotive landscape, bridging the gap between professional drivers and grassroots enthusiasts and capturing what it truly means to be driven.
Episode 1: The Streets of LA
The series opens with a cinematic dive into the high-performance street culture of Los Angeles. Enthusiasts and creators Brian Jannusch, Vin Anatra, and Jonny Grunwald offer a personal look at what fuels their automotive passion—and how their vehicles represent more than horsepower.

As Jonny Grunwald shares in the episode: “Southern California is the ultimate hub for car culture…there are so many inclusive car meets happening on a Sunday, or you can hit the canyons or go to the track—everything's all right here. If you're a Euro, JDM, or off-road enthusiast, it doesn't matter what you're into; you can find something for yourself.”
The episode highlights how LA’s car scene brings together people from all walks of life, united by the shared freedom and creativity that comes with driving.
Episode 2: Off-Roading LA
The second installment shifts gears and terrain, capturing the untamed beauty of Southern California’s off-road scene. Featuring iconic competitors and professionals Shelby Hall, Loren Healy, and Rhys Millen, the episode showcases the grit and performance that define this community—whether crawling through rocky trails or flying across wide-open desert.

In the episode, Loren Healy reflects on LA’s influence: “It is the central location where everybody started modifying vehicles and showing off that car culture that has developed all around the world—that all started in Southern California.”
This episode features vehicles including the Wildtrak Bronco, Polaris Pro R, and Loren’s “El Bandito,” emphasizing Pennzoil’s dedication to powering top performance even in the toughest environments.
Episode 3: LA Drifting Culture
The final episode takes viewers inside the tire-scorching world of LA drifting. Featuring Formula DRIFT ProSpec Driver Mike Power, automotive storyteller Larry Chen, and Jr Sang of Garagespeed, this chapter captures the finesse, intensity, and connection that make drifting more than just motorsport—it’s an art form.

In the episode, Larry Chen shares what the Long May We Drive campaign means to him: “It stands for something that we care about deeply. I do everything I can to spread the word about what we love to do as much as possible.”
From trackside stories to roaring engines and split-second precision, LA Drifting Culture closes the series on a high note—showcasing how Pennzoil continues to power passion and preserve car culture for future generations.

Long May We Drive is a cinematic celebration of what unites car lovers everywhere: the thrill of the road, the connection to the machine, and the community built along the way. By spotlighting real people and passion, Pennzoil honors every journey—whether on pavement, dirt, or the track.
