Supercharged Hennessey Truck Splashes Onto BBC's Top Gear
The guys at Top Gear are putting the off-road capabilities of the newest Hennessey Performance VelociRaptor 600 Supercharged to the test in an upcoming episode of the BBC’s hit show.
The VelociRaptor is an upgrade for Ford’s SVT Raptor pick-ups, and founder John Hennessey said his shop is simply picking up where Ford left off when it ended production of the popular truck.
“With Ford’s world-class truck design, our VelociRaptor 600 Supercharged will have an even greater level of performance and driving excitement,” Hennessey said. And like all Hennessey high-performance vehicles, the VelociRaptor 600 Supercharged has Pennzoil Platinum® with PurePlus® Technology under the hood, a first-of-its-kind full synthetic motor oil made from a natural gas base oil.
Hennessey Performance has produced only 500 VelociRaptors – all of them built to deliver maximum performance and reliability like the truck on Top Gear.

Hennessey engines have performed flawlessly under extreme conditions using Pennzoil® synthetic motor oils before. The Hennessey Venom GT that broke the world land speed record at 270.49 mph on Feb. 14, 2014, is a perfect example.
“High RPM, extreme power levels and high engine temperatures were all in play during our Breaking Barriers record run,” Hennessey pointed out. “Pennzoil Ultra Platinum™ kept our motor safe all the way through. The Top Gear test was a bit different with temperature extremes at both ends – high engine oil temps under grueling high altitude conditions, combined with very low ambient air temperatures all the way down to -20° F. Our engine had to start in the morning, just like it had to run perfectly all day long while the Top Gear team drove it up and down the mountain.”
